After my local Harley Davidson dealership decided to raise their labor rates per hour to a whopping $145 per hour, I decided that I am going to be more confident in my own mechanical abilities to do at the very least, more of the minor maintenance chores for my bike. I have a 2014 Street Glide with 33k miles and it’s never had any fork oil added that im aware of. I watched some YouTube videos and the process seems pretty straight forward in regard to adding the oil.It appears that I could have removed the fork caps with some of the tools I already had, but I wanted to do it right, so I picked up this nice little fork cap removal piece.I expected a flimsy piece of steel that was maybe good for 1-2 uses before twisting or torquing itself. That would have been fine by me because adding fork oil isn’t done very often. I was happy with the heavy duty steel used. I can’t imagine ever having to buy another one. It fit snugly over the fork cap nut and came off pretty easily with some applied pressure with a breaker bar. The whole ordeal took about 20 minutes and costMe less than $50. Harley was going to charge me close to $275.I give this fork cap tool A .
